Location: Leeds
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000

You’ll play a key role in maintaining, developing and optimising our Linux and HPUX environments, ensuring our services are robust, secure and ready to support the business every day.

What you’ll be doing
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our technology operations, supporting critical systems and helping us evolve our infrastructure. You’ll:
Administer and optimise Linux environments (RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu or similar)
Deliver OS upgrades, patching cycles, kernel tuning and performance improvements
Develop and maintain automation scripts to drive efficiency
Support the migration from HPUX to Linux
Handle 3rd‑line escalations from the service desk
Monitor alerting tools and take action on critical warnings
Contribute ideas in team meetings, helping us resolve root causes and improve reliability
Identify risks relating to manufacturing, servers or capacity and escalate where needed
Lead or participate in regular disaster recovery testing
Collaborate across locations — sometimes travelling to support issue resolution
You’ll effectively manage your own workload, balancing tickets and in‑flight projects, and act as a key point of escalation for more complex software or hardware issues.
Who we’re looking for
You’re someone who loves solving technical challenges and thrives in a fast‑moving environment. You’ll bring:
Hands‑on experience with Linux (RHEL, SLES or similar)
Experience of administering HPUX environments, is preferred but not essential
Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper‑V
Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls)
Over five years’ experience in the UK IT landscape
Great communication skills, with a friendly and collaborative approach
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise independently
Clear and concise documentation skills
A calm, adaptable approach in an ever‑changing environment
Willingness to travel to other sites when needed
